Day 1: East Coastal Route (31 Kms)

The route began at Morriscastle and continued along the beach past Knocknasillouge and Blackwater. It continued on to Ballinesker where the group stopped for refreshments. After lunch the trek continued down Curracloe beach around Raven Point and back along a forest path. The first days trekking ended in White Gap where many of the participants decided that a nice swim would help them prepare for day 2!

Day 2: The Blackstairs Walk (approx 36 kms)

The most challenging of all the days, this route is considered one of the classic routes in Irish hill-walking.

The Blackstairs Walk is approximately a 36Km mountain walk along the Carlow Wexford Border and traverses the entire range. This year, luckily we had beautiful weather for the day but for most people (apart from the hares at the front!) the walk still took over 9 hours to complete. At the end of a long day, all the walkers were very glad of Maeve's soup in Byrne's pub in Glynn!
