Trek 100 km in 4 days ...
Can you do it?
Event Date: 21st - 24th August 2008
The Pikeman Challenge is an action packed four day event based in the “sunny south-east”. From our base in Wexford town, you will hike 100 kilometres over mixed terrain of beautiful Wexford countryside.
This superbly organised event is a “ready-made vehicle” enabling participants to:
- raise money for the charity/ organisation of their choice
- get fit
- meet and trek with sporting legends & famous faces
- enjoy a fun filled weekend in the “sunny south-east”
- raise money for much needed sports facilities in Wexford
- explore one of the most important times in Ireland’s past
The Faythe Harriers Hurling & Camógie club has designed this initiative as a way to facilitate fundraising both within our club and for other clubs, charities and societies.
The theme of the challenge is to follow in the footsteps of Wexford’s 1798 Rebel Pikemen. Over the weekend guest speakers and accompanying guides will outline the historical elements of the route. While trekking, you will be afforded the opportunity of meeting participating celebrity walk leaders, famous faces and sporting legends.
Attracting young people to sport is a primary objective of the Faythe Harriers. Proper facilities are required to promote enjoyment and encourage participation across all the underage groups.
This fundraising initiative will help provide the Faythe Harriers Hurling & Camógie Club with new, state of the art, playing facilities for the youth of Wexford town while giving other organisations and individuals the opportunity to raise money for their club or chosen charity.
In 2008, with your help, the Faythe Harriers plan to build an all weather playing pitch with a new Clubhouse following in the near future.
